Short Grain Rice

Sello Rojo® Rice (Red Seal) was introduced in Puerto Rico in 1926.

Because of its commitment to consistent quality, it soon became Puerto Rico's preferred brand of rice, emerging as the key ingredient for traditional rice dishes such as :   Arroz con dulce, Asopao, and Arroz con gandules.

Available in 5 lb bags.

Cooking Directions - On the Stove

In a saucepan bring 3 cups of water to a boil.  If desired, add 2 teaspoons of salt and 4 tablespoons of vegetable or olive oil or tub margarine.  Add 2 cups of Sello Rojo® Rice and stir.  Lower the heat to medium, leave uncovered until water is just below the top of the rice.  Stir, cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring again after 10-15 minutes.

Note:  For softer rice use more water.  Or, for firmer rice use less water.

Cooking Directions - In the Microwave

Combine 1 cup of Sello Rojo® Rice, 2 ¾ cups water in a GLASS 3-quart deep microwave-safe dish.  If desired, add salt, butter or tub margarine.  Microwave on high for 25 minutes, or until all water is absorbed.  Makes about 3 cups cooked  rice.

* It is recommended that only 1 cup of rice be prepared in the microwave at a time.  Microwave ovens vary.  Cooking times are approximate.
